Welcome to the Sole Sisters Collective.
This blog began as a private journal for my grief therapy, after the death of my infant son. Not long after it became a shared collective, and I could not be happier. In the past year I have met many wonderful women. Women who inspire me , who come from all walks of life. They are young, and old, rich and poor. They are recovering from abuse, addiction and loss. They have lost babies, birthed babies and adopted little ones.
They cry & laugh simultaneously. They are activists, fashionistas, teachers, artists, musicians, doctors, feminists, administrators, bloggers, mentors, friends and lovers of life. They create, destroy, build & climb mountains. Some are Christians, others Muslims, Jewish or just beings passing through undefined. They inhabit a million social locations, yet never stop long enough to be truly defined as “this” or “that”.
Some of the women are strangers to me; others I am happy and lucky to have crossed paths with in a time when I needed support. I have been blessed to know every woman in some way, and I am happy to share their stories…OUR stories.
The theme of this blog is shoes. Shoes are powerful because they take us into many journeys and battles. They can define us in many ways, and they protect us. Through my own journey, I have come to a realization that it’s how we wear our shoes - how we experience the joys and pains of life that makes all the difference.
I hope the Sole Sisters Collective will be a wonderful journey for everyone who reads and share stories here.
To those of you who have shared your stories...a million thanks for taking the time to let us walk in your shoes.
